History:

St. Joseph Catholic School was established in the fall of 1955 with 54 students and a faculty of 2 lay teachers. From that date until the opening of the present structure in September, 1974, the school used simple wooden frame buildings, some of which were "portables" from Fort Hood which had been constructed during World War II.  These served as early classrooms, as well as residence facilities for teachers.  At various times throughout its history, St. Joseph School has varied in the grade levels it has covered -- extending in 1964 through the junior high grades of 7, 8, and 9.  Building space, family needs, and accreditation guidelines have resulted in the current range of classes from 3 year-olds through the fifth grade.
