| The Religious Education Program provides religion
instruction on basic Doctrine to children of this parish community. |
| The program is coordinated by Mary Alaniz and depends on
faithful volunteers to teach children in grades Kindergarten to Eight and
two good size confirmation classes. |
| We teach basic Doctrine with a curriculum that expands with
a scope and sequence according to grade level. We introduce the bible
in Grade 4. We use Walking by Faith, catechism based series by
Harcourt Publishers. |
| The Sacramental Program consists of two programs, one for
Second and Third Grades with a Second grade book and another special program
for older children in grades Four to Eight. In this special program,
they prepare for First Communion and help them to bring them up to where
they need to be. |
| The church has been teaching for years that parents are
more important than the teacher or the school they attend and how a child
turns out as a Catholic adult depends on his/her parents. However, the
value of the Religious Education Program reinforces family environment and
helps the parents on the faith formation of the children. |
| The Program consists of 28 sessions held on Wednesdays from
6:00 pm to 7:15 pm in the school. It starts in September and runs
through the first week in May. Confirmation classes are held on Monday
evenings. It is structured and organized almost as the regular public
schools, but with the emphasis to teach like Jesus did with Love,
Compassion, and Understanding. |
| We need 45 to 50 volunteers. |
